Bike a Bee

For much of her life, Jana Kinsman expected to be a career artist. But after a few years of working in a corporate setting as a professional graphic designer, her life began to shift. Since she was a child, Jana had an innate fascination with insects and after a few beekeeping courses as an adult, she was hooked. Today Jana manages about 50 local hives throughout Chicago, placed in public spaces like like schools, urban farms, and community gardens. For many years, Jana has traveled by bike and has become very dedicated to exemplifying just how much can be accomplished without the use of a car. As a beekeeper, her commitment to this has been maintained. Weekly inspections, equipment deliveries, and honey harvesting are all done by bike.
